Asana 101: 10 Tips for Asana Beginners [VIDEO]

Asana is only as good as what you put into it. Here are 10 tips for Asana beginners to help you get started and adopt best practices, fast!

  1. Set up your first project (learn more in this video). Choose a simple, easy project while you're getting the hang of Asana. e.g. content calendar, or client project.
  2. Check your Inbox a few times a day. Archive notifications once you've dealt with them.
  3. Like comments when you've read them.
  4. @-mention someone to loop them into a task and direct your comment at someone.
  5. Turn off email notifications. Work from your inbox instead.
  6. Work from your My Tasks (learn more in this video).
  7. How to create a good task (learn more in this video).
  8. Centralise your work in Asana. Forward emails to x@mail.asana.com.
  9. Set tasks to repeat for work you need to do each day/week/month.
  10. Plan out your Asana structure as a mind map (be careful not to set up too many projects and make it overwhelming). This is something we discuss in our support program.
