Asana Project Templates
As discussed in lesson 1.3, I recommend planning the set up of your projects in a few different ways (evergreen, temporary and summary projects). Right-click the links below to download the CSV files of my pre-built Asana templates. To import the template to your account, follow the steps outlined in lesson 2.4.
The first template I recommend you set up is the Asana Rollout Plan. This template will guide you through the steps in this course and how to strategically rollout Asana to your team!
Evergreen Projects
These are ongoing projects (“business as usual”) that you can use to manage various areas of work or departments. The project corresponds to a department and sections are used to sub-organize the tasks. These projects are great for organizing ad-hoc work and smaller tasks or mini-projects (which you set up as tasks).
- Administration – This project is useful for sorting miscellaneous admin work or mini-projects. It's useful to have a project like this so you have somewhere to set up miscellaneous tasks where you can see who's doing what.
- Asana Conventions – This project lists the Asana best practices discussed in lesson 3.2. This project can be customised and the processes refined for your business and team culture.
- Marketing – This project is useful for planning miscellaneous marketing work, campaigns and mini-projects. It's useful to have a project like this so you have somewhere to set up miscellaneous tasks where you can see who's doing what.
- Clients (each client is a task) – This project outlines the structure for how to manage lots of clients where each client is a task with subtasks to manage their work. This is suited to businesses with lots of small, high-turnover clients.
Temporary Projects
These temporary project templates can be used for actual “projects” that you're working on. Temporary projects typically have a deadline and come to an end at some point. At which time, you can Archive the project to hide it in the Asana sidebar. If you have a lot of projects to manage, you can group them into a Portfolio.
- Company Goals – This project helps you to plan company goals (as milestones) which can then be linked to relevant projects.
- New Product launch – This project outlines a format to use for temporary projects like a new product launch that goes through various stages of planning and development.
- Client Template (each client is a project) – This project outlines the structure for how to manage clients where each client is a standalone project with sections, tasks, and subtasks to manage the work. This is suited to businesses that need to manage larger client projects with more moving parts and complexity.
- Event Template (each event is a project) – This project outlines the structure for how to manage events where each event is a standalone project with sections, tasks, and subtasks to manage the work that needs to be completed. This is suited to businesses that need to manage large events lots of moving parts and complexity.
